Abstract: This rulemaking would implement a statutory provision that requires any new bus model purchased after September 30, 1989, be tested at a facility established by the Secretary, by law, in Altoona, Pa. FTA has published a series of seven interim final rules to implement this requirement. FTA is considering whether to have to apply bus testing requirements to new vehicle types and systems (e.g., bus rapid transit).
