T. Lane Hurley
Ph.D., Organizational Behavior/Organizational Effectiveness
Dr. Hurley's career focuses on understanding and improving the human behavior, systems, and processes that organizations utilize to accomplish their mission. He brings a considerable range of experience to his work at FEI with a career that bridges both the academic and applied settings. In addition to teaching in the public school system, he has held academic positions at a number of universities including the Florida State University, the University of New Mexico, the University of Alabama and Armstrong State College where he served as Professor of Political Science and Chairman of the Department of Government, Economics, and Criminal Justice. At the Federal level, Lane has served as Director of the Naval Medical Quality Institute and Special Assistant for Quality to the U.S. Navy's Surgeon General; as Special Assistant to the Department of Education's Inspector General; and as Director of Employee Assistance and Health for the U.S. Marshal's Service. At the state and local level, Lane has served as a Police Officer and as Director of Policy and Systems Development for the Albuquerque Police Department, Director of the New Mexico Law Enforcement Academy, and Criminal Justice Policy Aide to the Governor of New Mexico. Dr. Hurley has maintained a 25-year consulting practice whose clients include a range of Federal, state, and local agencies as well as private sector businesses such as Intel Corporation, Eaton Corporation, General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler. Lane first joined the Federal Government as a faculty member of FEI from 1985 through 1989 and returned to FEI in September of 1999. He received his B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Florida State University in 1975.
