Deborah D. Roberts
Ph.D.
Professor Deborah Roberts is a faculty member of the University of Virginia's Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service. Her vision for her life's work is "delivering on democracy," by improving government performance in a way that achieves the values of democracy. Her career has been about "practicing, preaching, and teaching public administration." She specializes in executive leadership, management, organizational change, facilitation and team building. She has worked with government practitioners and agencies at the Federal, state, and local level. She is lead faculty for the University of Virginia's Senior Executive Institute, a premier executive development program for the city management profession nationwide, that focuses on hands-on consulting to transform the performance and work culture of local governments. She is past director of two University of Virginia graduate programs: the Public Administration and Public Policy degree program and the Mid-Career Executive program for Federal Government managers. Her executive development career began with the Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C. She received her B.A., M.P.A., and Ph.D. degrees from the Maxwell School of Syracuse University.
