More about this Image
This work was supported by National Science Foundation grant CCR 01-03096, “Feasibility Studies on ZnO Nanostructures and their Device Applications,” an exploratory research in the Nanoscale Science and Engineering Initiative Program. The goals of the project were to (a) grow ZnO-based nanoscale structures, including nanotips and nanotip arrays, nanowires, and quantum dots; and (b) investigate the broad applications of these ZnO nanostructures in UV optoelectronics, biosensors, and advanced communications. The ZnO materials are grown using metalorganic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD).
