Ion-Grabbing Ligand
Caption:
To the inorganic chemist "ligands" are molecules that stick to other molecules, in particular to metal ions. The resulting "coordination complex" has properties that are usually very different from the ligand or metal alone. This is a picture of a ligand that grabs metal ions so that they can be removed from radioactive wastes.
