IMSC's Paul G. Allen Wireless Test Facility
Caption:
Robert Weaver, a Ph.D. student at the University of Southern California's Integrated Media Systems Center (IMSC), works in the IMSC's Paul G. Allen Wireless Test Facility, which houses a radio frequency anechoic chamber and control room. The chamber is used in IMSC's research on ultra-wideband (UWB) technology, a new wireless technology that uses pulses of radio energy rather than radio waves to transmit information in digital form. UWB technology offers a broad range of possible applications from home networking to advanced radar systems. The Center has pioneered academic research into UWB since it's founding in 1996. The IMSC is a National Science Foundation Engineering Research Center.
