Examining Aquatic Microorganisms

Caption:

Students at the Glenallen Elementary School in Silver Spring, Maryland, examine aquatic microorganisms grown in packets of leaves as part of their curriculum on ecosystems at the Gatorville Outdoor Classroom. The students and their teacher Kristi Cameron collaborated to build the Gatorville Outdoor Classroom with a small grant from the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. The project won Cameron a Presidential Award for Mathematics and Science Teaching in 2001, which is administered in part by the National Science Foundation.
