The Selective Service System (SSS)
The Selective Service System (SSS) is an independent, small Federal agency. The SSS relies on a diverse workforce of civil servants, active and reserve military, and civilian volunteers. The agency is comprised of approximately 170 full-time employees located in regional offices in Denver, Colorado; Marietta, Georgia; North Chicago, Illinois; and at the National Headquarters in Arlington, Virginia.
Civil service occupations include human resources, budget, accounting, management analyst, office automation, public affairs, program analyst, computer specialist, and directors at state, region and national headquarters. Civil service benefits include alternate work schedules, telework, a business casual dress policy, the Capital Region Transit Subsidy Program, pre-tax parking benefits, health and wellness, as well as the full range of benefits under the federal system, including retirement, health and life insurance, leave, and relocation.
