General Information
Undergraduate Scholarship
Program
- The goal of this program is to increase the number of students who undertake course work
and graduate with degrees in the targeted areas integral to NOAA's mission. The program
targets students who have completed their sophomore or junior years at Minority Serving Institutions
(MSIs), and have recently declared or are about to declare a major in an atmospheric, oceanic, or
environmental science discipline. Tuition/Fee assistance, summer internships, stipends and more
are available for students in the program.

Jobs, Careers, and Recruitments - This web site provides a variety
of information for undergraduate and graduate students through NOAA's Human
Resources Department. Students can check out NOAA and federal vacancies;
internship, fellowship, grant and scholarship opportunities; general career
resources; and opportunities for minorities.

Student Research Participation Program - This
web site provides opportunities for students to participate in research and
development related to science, math and engineering. It is for both
undergraduate and graduate students and the opportunities are available
in the Washington area and in NOAA field centers.

NOAA Grants Management Division - This site provides information
from NOAA Grants Management Division and lists a variety of grant programs
within NOAA, which include grants through the National Ocean Service,
the National Marine Fisheries Service, and the National Weather Service.

Marine Careers
- The site includes overviews of the fields of marine
biology, oceanography, and ocean engineering; a look at what the future
is likely to hold for careers in these fields; links to a wide range of
additional resources; information on salaries in various marine science
fields; and other great stuff. This site is a project of the National
Sea Grant College Program and is based on the publication Marine
Science Careers: A Sea Grant Guide to Ocean Opportunities.

Society for Marine Mamalogy: Strategies for Pursuing a Career in Marine
Mammal Science - This site provides a great deal of information
that answers students' questions about pursuing careers in marine mammal science.
The topics covered answer questions about the types of jobs and salaries
available, finding schools for undergraduate and graduate students, as well
as finding grants, scholarships, internships, and training information.

National Sea Grant Program - This excellent site provides
information about the National Sea Grant Program, whose mission is to encourage
the wise stewardship of of our marine resources through research, education,
outreach, and technology transfer. There is general information about the
program itself, as well as research, fellowship and other opportunities. These
other opportunities include employment prospects and web sites involving
environmental and ocean careers.

Marine Education Links - Another page on this web site has Marine
Education links in categories: aquariums, oceans, whales, and
environmental groups. This link is useful for getting to
non-governmental partners of NOAA.

National Undersea Research Program Students and Kids Page - This
page provides students with a Kids Undersea Art Gallery, sea stories,
and a section called "Live. . . from the Sea. . ." On this page,
students don’t have to get wet, suffer sea-sickness, and spend days
away from home to go to sea. Using underwater cameras and microphones,
undersea sights and sounds come to the computer screen where you can
listen to the sounds of an undersea volcano off Hawaii, visit with
aquanauts living underwater on a coral reef off Key Largo, Florida,
keep an eye on the nation's most sophisticated unmanned underwater
"space" station, LEO-15, and look down, in near real-time, on the water
planet from NOAA satellites.
