Description

NASA plans to renew its agreement with IMAX Space, Ltd. ("IMAX"), to enable collaborative production of an additional large format 3D film on the International Space Station (ISS). This collaboration builds upon the recent release of the IMAX 3D film SPACE STATION, produced in cooperation with NASA, which is now one of the top-20 grossing films in the United States. The new film will document completion of Station assembly as the Japanese and European laboratories are attached and the tempo of activities on ISS accelerates.

In the new film collaboration, NASA and IMAX seek to create a sequel of similar technical quality, educational content, and popular appeal. NASA has selected IMAX for this additional ISS film opportunity because IMAX has developed the only space-certified large format 3D camera system available to ensure seamless documentation of the completion of ISS assembly.

In initiating this collaboration, NASA does not seek to preclude, and indeed welcomes, proposals for additional large format film collaborations involving other NASA activities. Moreover, at an appropriate time, NASA intends to announce future opportunities for large format film collaborations on the fully assembled ISS.

This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP).

Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12.
