The Science Panel on Interactive Communication and Health, a panel of experts convened by the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, recommended that interactive health communication (IHC) applications, including Web sites, provide a summary disclosure statement.  We have provided below a summary of information drawn from the about healthfinder® section of our site.

    healthfinder® is a gateway consumer health information Web site from the U.S. government. The goal of the Web site is to improve consumer access to selected health information from government agencies, their many partner organizations, and other reliable sources that serve the public interest.
  • Target audience for the application:
    The primary target audience for healthfinder® is the general public; intermediaries and health professionals are also important audiences.

    Information from over 1,500 organizations is linked.  See healthfinder®'s selection guidelines for details about the process by which resources are selected.  Search the database for details about each organization listed. 

Privacy

  • How users' confidentiality or anonymity will be protected and who will have access to collected personal data:                                                                                       
    healthfinder® does not collect personal data from users. E-mail messages requesting information may be referred to other government agencies with responsibility for the type of information requested.  Web logs contain only standard information as outlined in our complete privacy policy.  Once a user leaves the site to visit a linked site, the privacy policy of that site applies.
