Dr. Barbara Karn of EPA/NCER's nanotechnology extramural research program, and Dr. Mike Sailor a nanotechnologist receiving grant funding through EPA's STAR grant program were recently interviewed by ScienCentral News to discuss the role nanotechnology can play in the development of pollutant sensors.
Michael Sailor, professor of material science, chemistry and biochemistry at the University of California, San Diego, and his graduate student Jamie Link, collaborated to make smart dust from tiny bits of silicon.

 Researcher on MIT Technology Review's List of 100 Remarkable Innovators Under 35 Who are Transforming Technology — and the World.
Jamie Link was selected as one of the top 100 most remarkable innovators for 2004, and at the age of 26 was the youngest recognized scientist on the list. Link, a graduate student under Michael Sailor collaborated with Sailor in the development of their "smart dust" nanosensors.
