INFORMATION FOR EMPLOYEES ON LAND APPRAISAL REFORM

A letter (September 8) from AS/PMB Scarlett to the chairs and ranking members of the Interior appropriations subcommittees outlines the Department’s proposed establishment of appraisal functions in the National Business Center (NBC).  It includes a chart depicting the placement of appraisal functions in the NBC and a map outlining the proposed regional structure for appraisal operations.

A memorandum (September 5) from AS/PMB Scarlett requests continued support from assistant secretaries and heads of bureaus for appraisal functions, including travel and training, during the interim period that will extend until bureaus and the NBC have sufficient information to derive reliable estimates of costs to support appraisal functions.

Answers to questions submitted by employees since the Secretary’s June 19, 2003 announcement of appraisal reform.

The current draft of recommendations submitted by the Appraisal Reform Team, an interdisciplinary group of career professionals, that is providing advice on implementation issues.  Although the recommendations are still in draft form, they provided the basis for the organizational proposal outlined in the AS/PMB’s September 8 letter.
