    The National Map is a consistent framework for geographic knowledge needed by the Nation. It provides public access to high-quality, geospatial data and information from multiple partners to help support decisionmaking by resource managers and the public.


  • Printed Maps Descriptions

    Discover a small sample of the millions of maps produced by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in its mission to map the Nation and survey its resources. This site provides a brief overview of the types of maps sold and distributed by the USGS. The USGS provides a wide variety of maps, from topographic maps showing the geographic relief and thematic maps displaying the geology and water resources of the United States, to special studies of the moon and planets.

  Digital Raster Graphics (DRG)

A DRG is a scanned image of a U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) standard series topographic map, including all map collar information.

    The Mineral Resources Program (MRP) of the USGS maintains an this web site to provide public access to various forms of digital data. Digital data sets include geology, geochemistry, geophysics, mineral resources, base maps, and other data. Coverage varies from regional to global.


  • USGS-NPS Vegetation Mapping Program

    Vegetation maps are being produced for most of the park units under National Park Service management. Deliverable products will include a digital file of vegetation maps, digital metadata files, textual descriptions and keys to the vegetation classes, hard-copy maps, and map accuracy verification reports.
