The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

           Sgt. Tyler D. Prewitt, 22, of Phoenix, Ariz., died Sept. 28 in Landstuhl, Germany, from injuries sustained in Baqubah, Iraq, on September 24 when a rocket-propelled grenade struck his vehicle and exploded.  Prewitt was assigned to 2^nd Battalion, 2nd Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, Vilseck, Germany.

          The incident is under investigation.
