The U.S. Embassy in Mexico City is seeking an individual for a position of Cultural Affairs Assistant (ELO) in the Public Affairs Section (PAS).

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION:

The individual in this position supports the English Language Officer (ELO) and Public Affairs Section (PAS) in developing and implementing projects designed to improve the quality of English teaching in Mexico, strengthen U.S. Mexican institutional relationships in the ESL field and promote the use of U.S. cultural content and curricular materials in Mexican ESL programs. Maintains and develops personal contact with a wide range of educators from all levels of education, inspectors, and program officials in public and private institutions, professional organizations, the Secretariat of Public Education (federal and state) and bi-national centers. Develops, organizes and administers outreach projects and English language programs; may represent the office at national and regional conferences.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Note: All applicants are instructed to address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each criteria.

- University degree (B.A.) in Teaching English as a Foreign Language or a closely related field required.
- Minimum of four years teaching experience at the secondary level. Two years experience in teacher training, including organizing and presenting workshops. Must be a member of MEXTESOL.
- Level IV (fluent) in written and spoken English and Spanish required; if TOEFL submitted, must have a score of 575 or greater.
- Must have advanced computer skills (Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint; list serve management; designing/maintaining a website).

ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA

- Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and visa status in determining successful
candidacy.
- Current employees serving an initial probationary period are not eligible to apply.
- EFMs who currently hold a PIT/FMA appointment are ineligible to apply for advertised position within the first 90
calendar days of that appointment.

EFM: US Citizen spouse or US citizen child as referred to in 6 FAM 111.3 paragraph R., (1) who is at least 18 years old, and who, in either case, is on the travel orders of a US citizen Foreign or Civil service employee or military service member permanently assigned to or stationed at a US Foreign Service post or establishment abroad and under Chief of Mission Authority.

The American Embassy is looking for an organized and detail-oriented Assistant Residence Manager.

Must have accounting, fiscal, and procurement experience; management, maintenance and other housing management related experience, attention to detail. Must have computer knowledge including Excel, some design and Word. Excellent interpersonal skills, works well in a team and is a good communicator. Level IV (fluent) English and Spanish required.
