Clinical Research Resources Directory

The Division for Clinical Research Resources (DCRR) within the National Center for Research Resources (NCRR) ensures that specialized facilities and biological materials needed for patient-oriented research are accessible to biomedical investigators whose research projects are supported by the National Institutes of Health and other peer-reviewed sources. Grants provided by the DCRR support the General Clinical Research Centers, the National Gene Vector Laboratories, the Islet Cell Resource Centers, and the National Disease Research Interchange.

General Clinical Research Centers (organized by state) offer clinical investigators specialized research environments that provide the infrastructure necessary to conduct patient-oriented research.

   Alabama Kentucky Oklahoma
   Arkansas Louisiana Oregon
   California Maryland Pennsylvania
   Colorado Massachusetts South Carolina
   Connecticut Michigan Tennessee
   District of Columbia Minnesota Texas
   Florida Missouri Utah
   Georgia New Mexico Vermont
   Illinois New York Virginia
   Indiana North Carolina Washington
   Iowa Ohio Wisconsin

National Gene Vector Laboratories serve as a resource for researchers to obtain adequate quantities of clinical-grade vectors for human gene transfer protocols.

Islet Cell Resource centers isolate, purify, and characterize human pancreatic islets for subsequent transplantation into patients with type I diabetes.

Human Tissue and Organ Resources supports a procurement network--developed by the National Disease Research Interchange (NDRI)--to ensure the availability of a variety of human tissues and organs for biomedical research.
