Completing Cleanup Results in New Missions
As cleanup activities are completed, some facilities will be used for future INEEL missions. Ownership and management of these existing facilities will be transferred to other program offices. This approach provides more efficient management of INEEL facilities and eliminates the need to build new facilities, thus providing a significant cost savings.
Cleanup at the Central Facilities Area and Test Reactor Area have been completed and those areas are now under the management of the Office of Nuclear Technology and Science. Argonne National Laboratory-West and the Naval Reactors Facility, while located at the INEEL, are not managed by the Department of Energy Idaho Operations Office.
