  • create a positive impact on customer service through policymaking, and
  • address Public Safety and Homeland Security issues.
In partnership with individuals, public and private organizations, and other government agencies, the Bureau seeks to improve the wireless landscape by fostering programs and providing access to information for all of its customers. Current outreach initiatives are:

This partnership will harmonize the respective agencies’ rules and regulations, coordinate outreach activities, and develop a joint Model Wireless Broadband Community Project.

Rural Wireless Community VISION Program
The Rural Wireless Community VISION Program, which is part of the Joint Federal Rural Wireless Outreach Initiative, invites any rural community to submit an essay which describes the community’s vision for wireless connectivity and services and how the community will benefit from this vision. Communities are chosen on the basis of their VISION Essay. The FCC’s Wireless Telecommunications Bureau and the USDA’s Rural Utilities Service will send a team to the chosen communities to provide on-site project assistance. The FCC’s Wireless Telecommunications Bureau will provide regulatory, engineering, legal and technical support. The USDA’s Rural Utilities Service will contribute the financial and telecommunications expertise of their loan-grant officers and their regional general field representatives.
