U.S. Preventive Services Task Force Hearing Screening Recommendation

The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF), an independent panel of professionals in the fields of primary care and prevention that develops recommendations for clinical preventive services, recently released its report on newborn hearing screening. Although the USPTF concluded, “The evidence is insufficient to recommend for or against routine screening of newborns for hearing loss…” they did state that they “found good evidence that newborn hearing screening leads to earlier identification and treatment of infants with hearing loss.”
