Visitor Parking

On Monday, August 4, 1997, visitor parking rates went into effect at NIH. The cost for attended visitor parking is $2.00 per hour, with a maximum of $12.00 per day. Weekends and holidays are free. Other visitor lots are metered and cost $.50 per hour with a 3-hour limit. For additional information, call the NIH Parking Office (301-496-6851) and see the revised NIH Campus parking map.

The parking lot located outside Building 12A has been closed due to construction of a new laboratory facility.

Since visitor parking is limited at NIH, and parking regulations are strictly enforced, many visitors find it convenient to take public transporation to the NIH campus. If you must drive, see the map for all the visitor parking at NIH. Long-term parking (over 3 hours) is only available in Lot 41.

Off-Campus Parking

Alternatives to parking on the NIH Campus are:

Drive to Bethesda, park in a public lot, and walk to the Bethesda Metro station. Take the Red Line to the Medical Center stop, then board the campus shuttle or walk to Building 12A
or
Take the Mid-Pike Plaza shuttle directly to Building 12A. The shuttle's off-campus stop is located on the corner of Rockville Pike (RT. 355) and Montrose Road.
