MISSION:

"To balance the individual Marine's need for 'best value' clothing in terms of practicality, quality and cost within  realistic supply support and fiscal constraints to ensure that the Marine Corps maintains functional, traditional and distinctive uniforms."

REGULATION CHANGES:

1 October 2004 Combat Utility/MC Combat Boot requirement dates Click here to see requirements by fiscal year.  Bottom line - by 1 Oct 2004 you will be required to have 4 sets of utilities (2 of which will have to be combat utility - 1 desert; 1 woodland - the other 2 pairs can be either combat utility or camouflage utility).  Camouflage utility uniforms may continue to be worn until 1 Oct 2006.  Black/green boots (except special issue/safety boots) are obsolete as of 1 Oct 2004 and may no longer be worn.  After 1 Oct 2004 you will wear the rough-side-out MC combat boots with all utility uniforms.

Special Issue Utility Uniform Allowance for Sailors (SIUUA).  MARADMIN 150/04 authorized a change to the SIUUA, but did not provide funding.  Please review the following link (SIUUAPage) for additional guidance on this issue.

Brown, Rough-Side-Out Steel-Toed Jungle Desert Boots Now Certified and Authorized for Wear.  The authorized boots are made by Bates Shoe Co. and are available in almost all MCX's and also online at www.batesfootwear.com. The style # is E40501 (see the Bates Flyer).  These boots may be worn per the commander's discretion.  Black safety/steel-toed boots are still authorized for wear.

Wear of Optional Green Undershirts.  Per MARADMIN 199/04, you are authorized to wear optional plain olive green long-or short-sleeve undershirts of any material as long as it meets your command's minimum safety requirements (i.e. no polyester blend fabrics in many aviation commands when in a flight status) and has a Marine Corps approval certification number on the inside back collar of the shirt.  If that certification number isn't there then it isn't authorized for wear.  Shirts with visible brand logos will not be certified and cannot be worn with the uniform.  See paragraph 3036.1c of the Uniform Regs (see left) for specific guidance.

Officer Rank Insignia on Combat Utilities.  Per MARADMIN 199/04 officer rank insignia (LtCol-CWO5) will be worn parallel to the deck vice the collar's edge.  Here is a graphic representation of what it should look like - Officer Rank Insignia.  Col rank insignia will be worn so the that eagle's wings are perpendicular to the deck.  See paragraph 4005.3c of the Uniform Regs (see left) for specific guidance.

Optional MC Combat Boot (MCCB) Policy.  Per CMC decision (MARADMIN 112/04) there is now an optional MCCB Program.  Optional MCCBs will be the same in design as the issued MCCB, but will have different soles.  All authorized optional MCCBs will have a Marine Corps approval serial number on the inside tongue of the boot and the MC emblem on the outside heel (must have both items to be an approved boot), and will meet your minimum requirement.  See paragraph 3012.e-f of the Uniform Regs (see left) for specific guidance.

Wear of Civilian Headgear Indoors.  Per PMCUB decision of 29 Jan 2004, the following statement will be added to paragraph 1005.2.a of the Uniform Regs: "...will be permitted.  When aboard a military installation, civilian headgear will be removed indoors, except that women may wear headgear indoors in accordance with established norms.  The wear of clothing articles..."
