Equal Employment Opportunity

The Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Program is dedicated to supporting the principles of EEO and affirmative employment as set forth by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the U.S. Office of Personnel Management. These principles are an integral part of every aspect of our personnel policy in employment, development, advancement, and treatment of our employees.

EEO Policy Statement

April 21, 2003

The Marine Corps’ many significant contributions to the history and security of this great Nation are attributed to our exemplary performance. Throughout our history, senior leaders have remained committed to ensuring our military is provided with every opportunity and resource necessary for them to perform to the fullest extent of their capabilities. Pride in knowing we have done our very best and have achieved so much is what allows us to enjoy such a proud and rich heritage.

The commitment of our Civilian Marines has been an essential ingredient in ensuring the Corps performs with the utmost excellence. Working side-by-side with their military counterparts, our civilian work force has dedicated itself to ensuring our military is provided with the support and equipment necessary to complete our mission. Their superior performance has been instrumental in upholding the heritage of our Corps.

The development and retention of a quality civilian work force is critical to the future needs of the Marine Corps. Therefore, it is imperative that all employment actions and assignments to developmental opportunities be based solely on merit principles. We will ensure an environment free from prejudices, harassment, or intimidation where every individual is recognized for their value and encouraged to reach their full potential.

I charge military and civilian leaders at all levels to uphold the laws and regulations governing Equal Employment Opportunity. I urge each of you to hold accountable not only those individuals who violate these laws, but also those who fail to enforce the laws and this policy. Discrimination, in any form, will not be tolerated.

Signature of M. W. Hagee
