Retired Activities Home
  

Mission: To administer plans, programs and policies pertaining to retired Marines, their family members, and surviving spouses. To provide retired Marines, their family members, and surviving spouses the requisite support and assistance in matters dealing with their benefits, entitlements, and other required needs.

Functions:
-
Administer the Survivor Benefit Plan (SBP), Supplemental Survivor Benefit Plan (SSBP), and the Reserve Component Survivor Benefit Plan (RCSBP), including counseling, but exclusive of all related fiscal or data processing functions.
- Provide support to retired Marines, Marine veterans, their family members, and survivors.
- Publish the Semper Fidelis Memorandum for Retired Marines on a quarterly basis.
- Publish the Marine Corps Retirement Guide (NAVMC 2642), which provides comprehensive information on entitlements, benefits, and privileges of retiring Marines, and informs both regular and reserve component career Marines of options regarding long-range plans for their retirement years.
- Certify applications for and issues the Uniformed Services Identification and Privilege Card for retirees, veterans, and their family members.
- Certify entitlement under TRICARE for retired Marines and their family members.
- Serve as the liaison between the Chief, Bureau of Medicine and Surgery, Department of the Navy, and family members in the establishment of incapacitated dependent children over age 21 status.
- Make the initial determination of eligibility benefits (exclusive of apportionment of retired pay) for former spouses of active duty and retired members.
- Maintain liaison with the Secretary of the Navy's Retiree Council (RC), attending annual meetings with committee members, advertises committee member openings in the Semper Fidelis Memorandum for Retired Marines and screens and forwards resumes to the RC co-chairmen for selection.
