Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance (DEDS)

Mission: To establish and operate a central epidemiologic resource for
the Army; analyze, interpret and disseminate information regarding the status,
trends, and determinants of the health and fitness of America’s Army; and
identify and evaluate obstacles to medical readiness.
The Directorate of Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance (DEDS) is divided into
five programs designed to support the health promotion and preventive medicine
goals of the U.S. Army Center for Health Promotion and Preventive Medicine, the
U.S. Army Medical Command, and the Military Health System 2020.
