Avian Influenza is an infectious disease of birds caused by type A strains of the influenza (flu) virus. The disease can be serious enough to kill a large number of birds.Ducks, chickens and turkeys tend to be most at risk for catching Avian Influenza. Since Avian Influenza is similar to Human Influenza, humans can sometimes contract the avian type of Influenza. This happens when humans come into contact with droppings from a sick bird.
