Notes:

1.   UNIFORM OF THE DAY POLICY:  Unless otherwise prescribed by the commander either version of the combat utility (desert or woodland MARPAT) or the camouflage utility (until 1 Oct 06) uniforms may be worn at the individual's discretion.  ALMAR 004/04 gives the commander authority to limit the daily wear of utility uniforms to one pattern style or another (i.e. no desert MARPAT in garrison...).

2.  PURCHASING COMBAT UTILITIES/BOOTS AHEAD OF SCHEDULE:  Marines who purchase combat utility uniforms ahead of the above schedule are not required to maintain the camouflage utility uniform as long they maintain at least the minimum requirement of combat utilities and at least four sets of utility uniforms.

3.  REQUIREMENT IF ISSUED COMBAT UTES/BOOTS AT BOOTCAMP/OCS:  Marines who received the MCCUU and MCCBs at boot camp/OCS will be required to  maintain the requirement as outlined for FY 06, effective immediately.  These Marines may wear the old boots and utilities, but must maintain the full requirement of combat utilities as detailed above.

4.  EXPLANATION OF MARADMIN 112/04:   All MarAdmin 112/04 did was announce the approval of the Marine Corps Combat Boot (MCCB) Optional Boot Program.  Prior to the approval of the MCCB Optional Boot Program we had an optional black and green boot program that authorized Marines to wear any style boot as long as it met the general characteristics listed in paragraph 3012.2(e) of the Uniform Regulations (MCO P1020.34G). Optional black and green boots did not require Marine Corps Systems Command certification. The new MCCB Optional Boot Program requires manufactures to receive certification approval prior to selling to Marines as authorized boots. The optional MCCBs will look exactly like the issued boot except in the sole area (we are trying to take advantage of new sole technology and open up boot availability).  So, the approved optional MCCBs will have a Marine Corps emblem on the outside of the heel and an approval certification number on the inside tongue of the boot.  If the optional boot doesn't have both of these items it isn't authorized and cannot be worn.  The optional MCCBs will meet your minimum requirement and should be offered in both the temperate weather and hot weather styles.

5.  BOOT WEAR POLICY:  Per paragraph 3012.2 of the Uniform Regs, you may wear any authorized style of boot with any authorized utility uniform  (that includes black/green boots with either style combat utility uniform and the brown boots with the old style camouflage utility uniform) until 1 Oct 2004.  As of 1 Oct 2004 the ONLY boots you will be authorized to wear (with the exception of special issue safety boots/aviation boots...) with any utility uniform will be the rough-side-out Marine Corps Combat boots.
