List of U.S. Navy Heritage Mini-Series Videos Currently Available:

The Chief of Naval Education and Training (CNET), in coordination with the Director Navy Staff, Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy, Director of Naval History, and the Naval Historical Foundation, has sponsored the development of a series of short videos on the history and heritage of the U.S. Navy and its Sailors. CNET is distributing these 3-5 minute videos throughout the Navy's training establishment. Unit commanders, instructors, and General Military Training (GMT) leaders are encouraged to use these videos to introduce training sessions, commemorate key dates in the Navy's long and eventful history, and inspire Sailors with reference to the Core Values of Honor, Courage, and Commitment.

In addition to the mini videos identified below, which have been issued and are available for use, CNET and the associated organizations are working to produce many more short videos on a variety of topics. Future videos may highlight the following: Commodore Matthew Calbraith Perry, Master Chief Boatswain's Mate Carl Brashear, and other outstanding leaders and heroes; the evolution of Navy uniforms; USS Constitution, USS Missouri, USS Nautilus, and other historics warships, aircraft, and weapons; the Navy Nurse Corps, WAVES, SEABEES, SEALs, and other organizations; the Navy's involvement in Arctic and Space exploration; joint and combined operations in the Vietnam and Persian Gulf wars; significant evetns, such as the loss of USS Thresher; and historic sites like the Washington Navy Yard, and the Pearl Harbor Naval Base.

The Naval Historical Center encourages commanders, instructors, and Sailors to supplement these mini historical videos with relevant information that can be viewed on or downloaded from this website, including photographs, art, narrative descriptions, and suggested readings on related subjects. This website also provides references and links to key Navy museums, libraries and artifact, archival, photographic, art, and other collections outside the Naval Historical Center.

Learning about the U.S. Navy's history and heritage will enable Sailors to understand better the service's significant contribution to the United States and the American people.
