CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. - Several government, sports and music celebrities visited Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune while they were in town for the Marine Corps Celebrity Invitational Golf Tournament held at Camp Lejeune Sept. 23-26.

The special guests included Mrs. Marilyn Quayle, wife of former Vice President of the United States Dan Quayle; Hockey Hall of Famer Stan Mikita; former NBA player Kelly Tripucka; baseball’s Scott Sanderson; tennis star Cliff Richey; and Jason Scheff, bass guitarist for the band Chicago.

Capt. Richard C. Welton, commanding officer of Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune, explained the command’s mission to the celebrities while they toured the hospital and met with patients, visitor and staff members.

“The excitement brought on by the celebrities visiting the hospital will be with us for sometime to come,” said Lt. James Ferneyhough, Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune staff member.

All proceeds from the Marine Corps Celebrity Invitational Golf Tournament were donated Project Care and the Fallen Patriots Fund.
