The CCE manages two Marine Corps training and education programs: the Marine Corps Distance Learning Program (MCDLP) and the Distance Professional Military Education Program (DPMEP).

The MCDLP focus of effort is on developing e-learning solutions to Marine Corps training and education requirements. The MCDLP currently uses both computer-based interactive multimedia instruction (IMI) and video teletraining (VTT) technologies to deliver critical training and education to Marines anytime and anywhere. Access to courseware is provided by learning resource centers located at Marine Corps bases and stations; automated electronic classrooms (AECs) located at selected schoolhouses; Marine Corps networked workstations; and personal computers via the Internet.

The DPMEP focus of effort is officer professional military education (PME). The CCE sponsors both the Command and Staff College Distance Education Program (CSCDEP) and the Expeditionary Warfare School Distance Education Program (EWSDEP). The EWSDEP and CSCDEP are aimed at Marine captains and majors, respectively. Since only 20 percent of all Marine Corps captains and majors are afforded the opportunity to attend the resident EWS or CSC, the DEP is the methodology by which most officers receive vital PME.

In addition to paper-based correspondence courses, the CCE offers a seminar program that provides a resident experience to DEP students. The seminars enable officers of various MOSs and experiences to meet to discuss course material under the tutelage of qualified adjunct faculty. The CCE also provides electronic enhancements to the basic courseware, further expanding the officer distance PME experience. Finally, the CCE provides VTT links from seminars held at major bases and stations to officers at selected remote locations.

Contract Support

Technical, IMI development, academic, and other related support, not resident within the CCE, is required to accomplish these tasks. Civilian contract support is acquired from various vendors via a number of government contracting activities. These activities include the Government Services Agency (GSA) and the Regional Contracting Office North East, Quantico, Virginia.
