Our Mission
Integrate operational support for Preventive Medicine (PM) and PM
countermeasures to the Army, respective combatant commands, supported JTF’s,
Department of Defense and State, and other federal agencies, as directed by the
U.S. Army Medical Command (USAMEDCOM). Coordinate the evaluation,
recommendation, development and implementation of protective force postures to
mitigate health hazards for U.S. forces and to ensure PM preparation of the
battlefield.
The resources and services that DCSOPS provides are organized into three programs: Current Operations, Support Operations, and Health Information Operations. Click on each program name for more information about the resources and services within that program.
Deputy Chief of Staff's Office

MISSION: Leads the Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations to deliver public health support to the U.S. Army, Department of Defense, and other agencies.
Current Operations
Program Manager: DSN 584-5490; Commercial (410) 436-5490
MISSION: Integration of current operations support to the Army, combatant
commands, and other organizations, as directed by USAMEDCOM. Manages the
Emergency Operations Center. Processes country/theater clearances. Coordinates
CONUS/OCONUS operations support. Directs Command’s security programs.
Support Operations

MISSION: Provides education and training for PM assets in garrison and deployed
locations. Manages the Deployment Occupational and Environmental Health
Surveillance (DOEHS) Training Program. Provides food sanitation/hygiene
consultation and training. Manages the vulnerability assessment program that
protects the Army food supplies against bio-terrorism. Manages Special Medical
Augmentation Response Team – Preventive Medicine (SMART-PM) support for
operational missions and exercises.
Health Information Operations

MISSION: Identify and prioritize emerging and potential preventive
medicine/public health threats, both real and perceived, in a systematic
manner. Develop and appropriately distribute information to convey those
threats and appropriate countermeasures to service members, their families,
military leaders, health care providers, and other appropriate audiences.
Produce Deployment/Contingency information products such as Staying Healthy
Guides, Medical Threat Briefings, and Preventive Medicine Resource CD-ROM Set
and Internet site.
