This Program was established because of  high dollar value, critical schedule, technical complexity, varied nature of commercial acquisition programs, and overall importance of the National Defense and management problems anticipated in program execution. The goal of the Program is delivery of a large number of support ships, boats and craft to Operating Forces of the U.S. Navy, to the Military Sealift Command (MSC), and to Foreign Military Sales (FMS) Customers.

Acquisition

The program office executes $12.5B in the acquisition of over forty foreign and domestic programs, including: Strategic Sealift Ships; Auxiliary Ships; Oceanographic and Special Mission Ships; Boats, Craft, and Seaborne Targets; Foreign Military Sales (FMS) of Boats and Craft to 23 countries including the Riverine Drug Interdiction Craft Program; and in-service support for the USS CONSTITUTION. These programs span major and minor acquisition categories: ACAT I, ACAT III, ACAT IV, NON-ACAT, Abbreviated Acquisition, and Other Transaction using Section 845 authority. PMS 325 is currently managing four ACAT I programs, namely, Strategic Sealift (T-AKR), Auxiliary Dry Cargo Ship (T-AKE), Combat Support Ship (T-AOE(X)), and Maritime Prepositioning Force Ship - Future (MPF(F)).
