Squadrons and Flights
The bulk of entries currently in this folder were prepared for inclusion on a CD edited by Judy G. Endicott, USAF Active Flying, Space, and Missile Squadrons as of 1 October 1995. Periodically we will be revising the existing entries and adding new ones. We also refer readers to previous printed lineage reference works, especially Maurer Maurer's Combat Squadrons of the Air Force, World War II. The lineages in the entries shown on this site, however, supersede those shown in earlier reference works and publications.
For a fuller statement of a squadron's operations, see its parent wing or group entry at this site and also refer to the previous published works, Charles Ravenstein's Air Force Combat Wings: Lineage and Honors Histories, 1947-1977 and Maurer Maurer's Air Force Combat Units of World War II.
Unless otherwise indicated in the individual entry, information on lineage, assignments, and stations is as of October 1, 1995. Information on aircraft, operations, and honors is through around March 1993, generally the last history available to the compilers during the research phase of the project.
