Rear Admiral Barry McCullough

RAdm. McCullough's portrait From Weirton, W.Va., Rear Admiral McCullough was graduated from the United States Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree in Naval Architecture. He was commissioned as an Ensign in the United States Navy on 4 June 1975. In addition to graduating from the Naval Academy, Rear Adm. McCullough completed Naval Nuclear Power training and received a Master of Science degree in Strategic Resource Management from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces at National Defense University.

Currently, Rear Adm. McCullough is the Commander, Carrier Strike Group Fourteen, formally known as Commander, Cruiser Destroyer Group Twelve/Commander Enterprise Carrier Strike Group. Most recently he served as Navy Region Hawaii and Naval Surface Group Middle Pacific. Rear Admirals McCullough's major command was in USS Normandy (CG 60) from February 1999 until February 2001.

Prior to commanding Normandy, he served as Commanding Officer in USS Scott (DDG-995) from August 1991 to May 1993 and USS Gemini (PHM 6) from August 1986 to August 1988. Other sea assignments were: Operations Officer for Commander Second Fleet/Striking Fleet Atlantic, Engineer Officer in USS Enterprise (CVN 65), Engineer Officer in USS Virginia (CGN 38), and Main Propulsion Assistant in USS Texas (CGN39).

Rear Adm. McCullough's shore tours include serving as the Director for Strategy and Analysis, J5, at U.S. Joint Forces Command, First Battalion Officer at the United States Naval Academy and as the Department Head for the D1G Prototype Nuclear Power Plant at Nuclear Power Training Unit, Ballston Spa, N.Y.

His decorations and awards include: Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, and Navy Achievement Medal. Additionally he is authorized to wear numerous unit and campaign awards.
