Q: What is and what are Special Assignments?
A: Primarily 1 of 5 duties (Recruiting, Drill Instructor, Marine Security Guard, Marine Corps Security Forces, Combat Instructor). Other Special duties include, AMOI Duty, Staff Non Commissioned Officer Degree Completion, Cadre Duty, SNCO Academies, Navy Drug and Alcohol Program, Shooting Team, EOA Duty.
Q: How do I apply and get assigned to a Special Duty?
A: In accordance with MCO P1326.6D, you must be screened by your command using the screening checklist located in the order, if you are found qualified you need to submit a SDA RELM to this command requesting assignment to the particular duty. When HQMC receives your request it will be routed through MMEA-8 for approval. If approved, you will be assigned to a Class for that Special Assignment.
Q: Where can I get a Checklist?
A: MCO P1326.6D, or get with your Career Retention Specialist.
Q: How do I get my orders modified to a different class?
A: Send a Naval Message to this Headquarters requesting modification.
Q. Is back-to-back "B" billet authorized (i.e. Recruiting duty to MSG duty)?
A: No. Back-to-back "B" billet is not authorized.
****Note:
-If you desire to apply for a Special Assignment "B" billet, and you are qualified and meet all the requirements set forth in MCO P1326.6D, see your Career Planner to apply.

-An E-mail to the Monitors requesting modification/cancellation of order is not an official correspondence.
