Helicopter
Tactical Wing Pacific (CHTWP) is a Type Wing and subordinate element of
Commander, Naval Air Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet (CNAP).
CHTWP's mission is to provide oversight and readiness support for all Pacific Fleet Helicopter Combat Support (HC) Squadrons and associated units, and four Operational Maintenance Divisions within CNAP. It serves as a focal point for HC community issues, and MH-60S Sierra Expeditionary CONOPS.
CHTWP has administrative control over the following Helicopter Combat
Support Squadrons (HC): HC-3, a Fleet Replacement training squadron, home-ported onboard Naval Air Station North Island, San Diego, CA . HC-5, the Navy’s only forward
deployed HC Squadron home-ported onboard Andersen Air Force Base, Guam, U.S.A. HC-11, the Navy’s largest operational
squadron, home-ported onboard Naval Air Station North Island, San Diego, CA . CHTWP’s also has maintenance and
safety oversight covering most Pacific Fleet SAR stations and HMT-303, the HH-1N
“Huey” Fleet Replacement Squadron. The HC Pacific Fleet Squadrons fly the H-46D "Sea Knight", UH-3H “Sea King”, and the new MH-60S “Knighthawk” helicopters to perform Search and Rescue, Force Defense, and Naval Special Warfare/EOD Support for Amphibious Ready Groups (ARG) and Expeditionary Strike Groups (ESG). These squadrons also perform vital Vertical Replenishment, Combat Logistics and Training support for all Carrier Battle Groups (CVBG) and Joint Task Forces (JTF) operating in the THIRD, FIFTH and SEVENTH Fleet Area of Operations (AO).
