  • Accident Investigation: A Tool for Effective Prevention. The National Agricultural Safety Database (2002, August 3), 12 KB. 13 min video. This program clearly defines what an accident is and provides guidelines on when to investigate such an occurrence. Intended audience: Managers/Supervisors.

What kind of informational tools are available?
  • Accident Investigation. OSHA's Small Business Outreach Training Program Instructional Guide, Section 6 (1997), 7 pages.
  • Plain Language About Shiftwork. DHHS (NIOSH) Publication No. 97-145 (1997, July), 572 KB PDF, 47 pages. This booklet discusses shiftwork and night work schedules in relation to tired/sleepy workers, possibly resulting in aggravating health conditions. It also discusses ways of coping with shiftwork.
  • Process Safety Management of Highly Hazardous Chemicals. OSHA Fact Sheets 93-45. (1993, January 1), 4 pages. Discusses the requirement for employers to initiate an investigation as soon as possible (but no later than 48 hours after) incidents which did result or could reasonably have resulted in catastrophic releases of covered chemicals.
  • CHEMSAFETY.gov is the United States Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board's site. The Board investigates major chemical accidents.
