Prescribed uniform when conducting official business on Capitol Hill is the uniform of the day.  All uniformed naval personnel testifying before Congress or attending Congressional hearings will wear Service Dress Blue throughout the year, regardless of season.

Requests for exceptions to the prescribed uniform should be submitted to the Commandant Naval District Washington for approval.

Winter Uniform Policy for NDW
NDW will shift to winter uniforms effective 0001 4 October 2004, and ending 2359 1 May 2005.
 

The prescribed winter uniform of the day for Officers/CPO is Service Dress Blue; the alternative is Service Khaki.  For E-6 and below, the prescribed winter uniform of the day is Service Dress Blue; the alternative is Winter Blue.

The prescribed summer uniform of the day for Officers/CPO is Summer White; the alternative is Service Khaki.  For E-6 and below, the prescribed summer uniform of the day is Service Dress White; the alternative is Summer White.

Uniform for special events and ceremonies for all pay grades will 
be:
   

Daytime:    Prescribed uniform of the day or as directed by host command.
    
Evening/
Civilian Functions:
  
Service Dress Blue is the prescribed uniform for evening/civilian functions where the dress code is civilian informal.
Funerals at Arlington National Cemetery: Participants:  Full Dress Blue
Attendees:  Service Dress Blue unless otherwise prescribed.
