Welcome aboard to Fleet Logistics Support Squadron Six One and to the beautiful Pacific Northwest. You are, I am certain, becoming a member of the finest of fourteen squadrons in our air wing, the Fleet Logistics Support Wing, headquartered in Fort Worth, TX, and one the finest squadrons in the entire Navy. The Islander's mission is to provide the fleet air logistics support, moving personnel and cargo around the world around the clock, using our fleet of four DC-9-33 aircraft.

Our command, based aboard NAS Whidbey Island, WA, is comprised of approximately 250 members, represented by 130 active duty TARs and 120 SELRES, or Selected Reservists and is one of the largest commands on Whidbey.

We are very proud of our mission for the Navy and even prouder of the fact that virtually 100% of this vital mission to the Navy is provided by reservists. You have arrived at great squadron in a beautiful area of the country with a tremendous quality of life which provides to the fleet a unique yet vital service. All these combine to create a superior squadron, strong professional development, superlative mission accomplishment and great job satisfaction!
