Following months of planning, preparation, on-sight construction
and touch-up landscaping, the old NEX parking lot is now a
brand-spanking new Youth Playground, and the old playground is
the freshly paved and painted NEX parking lot.
Nearly 40 excited
local youths got their first crack at sliding, swinging and
jumping on the newly opened playground at RAF West Ruislip
Tuesday, August 31, 2004.
Charlene Brown, MRW
Child Development Program Administrator, thanked all the people
involved with the project during her opening comments. "This is
a big success," she said, pointing to the playground behind her.
"There’s the end product and it’s beautiful."
Bordered by lush
green grass, a decorative brown wooden fence, and sprinkled with
impressive landscaping of native shrubs and trees, the
brightly-colored Little Tykes playground modules were tested and
trampled on by children from the MWR Child Development Centre
and Youth Activity Centre at West Ruislip minutes after the
official ribbon-cutting ceremony. |
