    Quality of life for our sailors is at the top of the list: living next to New York City, Atlantic City and Philadelphia can't be beaten by any port in America.  When our sailors are not working hard at sea - for up to six months long - they tend to enjoy:

  • The New York Yankees or Mets, the New Jersey Nets or New York Knicks, The New York Giants, the New Jersey Devils or New York Rangers at their choice of world famous stadiums.  New Jersey is also where the first organized baseball game was ever played.

  • The most famous boardwalk in the world - it made it's debut in Atlantic City in 1870!

  • BROADWAY SHOWS in Manhattan - known around the globe for exhilarating and exciting performances - no city can hold a candle or dare make such a claim.

  • Silver metal diners everywhere you go with drive ins.  Enjoy your food on a tray attached to the window - it lives still in New Jersey!

  • Home of the Miss America Pageant at the TRUMP Casino in Atlantic City.

  • Living next to, "the Highlands," the highest point of land on the coast from Texas to Maine (226 feet above sea level).  These are the lands that were first sighted by millions of immigrants arriving in America.  They were first described in 1524 by explorer Giovanni da Verrazano of Florence, Italy and was an area explored by Henry Hudson in 1609.  You may know them  from the, "Water Witch," written by James Fennimore Cooper in 1830. 

  • Home of saltwater taffy - discovered when a storm flooded a candy factory on the shore!  Try some hot Belgian waffles with ice cream and powdered sugar on the shore or have a Philadelphia cheese steak or an Italian hoagie!

  • World class ballet, opera, theater and the ROCKETTE's on stage - every night - a plethora of performances that no duty station can offer.

  • Our county of Monmouth County - "where the farmlands meet the sea."  Horse breeding, pick your own fruit farms and live horse racing at the well known Monmouth Race Track and home to the highest paid prize in America of 1,000,000.00 dollars.

  • Lighthouses galore up and down the coast including Old Barney, Twin Lights, Sandy Hook, Cape May and more - just to name a few...

  • The largest, "Doo Wop," enclave in America - located in Wildwood - or the largest Victorian city in the United States in Cape May - complete with gas lamps, afternoon high tea, festivals, costumed characters and horse drawn carriages!

  • Internationally known stars who live here by the base - like Jon Bon Jovi, Whitney Houston and Bruce Springsteen - & who perform here.

  • Surfing, beach clubs, golden beaches, private parks, sailing, yachts, boating, crabbing, fishing for International Class Sized Pulls, tournaments and miniature golf!
