Living next to, "the Highlands,"
the highest point of land on the coast from Texas to Maine (226 feet above
sea level). These are the lands that were first sighted by millions of
immigrants arriving in America. They were first described in 1524 by
explorer Giovanni da Verrazano of Florence, Italy and was an area explored
by Henry Hudson in 1609. You may know them from the, "Water
Witch," written by James Fennimore Cooper in 1830.
