LABOON is one of the most capable warships
in today's fleet. The eighth destroyer of the ARLEIGH BURKE Class, she combines
the most modern weapons and combat system in our fleet with an engineering
plant and hull design built for total survivability. The foundation of LABOON's
combat system rests in the Aegis Weapon System which can simultaneously support
engagements against land, air, surface and subsurface targets. Her incredibly
sophisticated propulsion plant and machinery control system allow LABOON to
move at speeds in excess of 30 knots while maintaining pinpoint maneuverability
and weapon accuracy. LABOON's equipment and design allow her to be a major
force in representing the United States of America and her global interests. In
order to be an effective, combat ready warship at sea, LABOON must have an
extremely talented crew. The Sailors onboard LABOON are the Navy's finest
officers and enlisted, men and women. Their expertise and teamwork is the
primary reason that LABOON continues to succeed as an example of the Navy's
best combatant ships. Without the dedication, motivation and experience of her
crew, LABOON could not complete the mission on time, anywhere, around the
