While our focus is on ships, submarines, aircraft squadrons and support units (SeaBees and SEALS), we conduct special studies, and develop policy and procedures that have wide impact for the Navy.

Our officer and enlisted occupational standards division determines the minimum skills required for each Navy job. These skill descriptions are ultimately used as the basis for assignments, training, and promotions.

We are also committed to ensuring future Navy warfighters have the right jobs identified by studying human-machine interfaces and new systems and equipment for both existing and new classes of ships, submarines, and squadrons.
