Naval
Dental Center Southwest is
the largest dental command in the Navy. Commissioned in September
1967, her first Commanding Officer was RADM B.G. Pollard, DC, USN.
In addition to providing dental support to the fleet and shore commands
of the Pacific Fleet and to recruits of Marine Corps Recruit Depot
MCRD, it performs a significant dental and operational training mission
for dental personnel assigned in the Pacific theater.
NDC Southwest has 9 branch clinics and an Area Dental Laboratory on
Navy and Marine Corps bases extending from San Diego, north to Monterey
and east to Fallon, Nevada.
Headquarters, the Area Dental Laboratory and the largest Branch Dental
Clinic are located aboard Naval Station in San Diego.
Four mobile self contained dental vans take dental care directly to
the fleet.
The NDC Southwest Color Guard performed over 100 military and civilian
functions throughout Southern California. |
