Our Mission

Our mission is power projection, to "...engage the enemy in sustained combat operations from the sea".  We must remain focused and maintain the highest level of combat readiness.

Leadership, Teamwork, Integrity, Safety...

Being a Blue Blaster carries a proud tradition, a tradition that says we are an unbeatable team, a tradition that says we are the best.  Together, we will continue to lead Strike Fighter Wing Atlantic, Carrier Air Wing Seventeen and the entire U.S. Navy.

Command History

The history of Strike Fighter Squadron THREE FOUR is studded with noteworthy accomplishments and traditions dating back to our original commissioning on 15 October 1943 .  As a front line strike fighter unit, the Blue Blasters directly participated in World War II, the Cuban Crisis, the Vietnam Conflict, and Desert Shield.  The squadron has flown eight different aircraft types form the decks of 24 carriers while compiling an enviable list of "firsts".  From F6F Hellcats to the latest Boeing FA-18C Hornet, the VFA-34 Blue Blasters will remain always on the cutting edge.

While just returning from deployment, the Blue Blasters were recognized for exceptional performance by the Chief of Naval Operations with the presentation of the Rear Admiral Wade McClusky Award as the premier attack squadron in the U.S. Navy, and by Commander, Naval Air Force, U.S. Atlantic Fleet with the Battle Efficiency Award as the finest East Coast Strike Fighter Squadron.  The Blue Blasters of today are a formidable fighting force, poring the newest technology and tactics.  Throughout the many years of constant transition, the Blue Blasters have never lost their sense of tradition.  The Blue Blasters can be seen and heard in the skies all over the globe.  The men and women of Strike Fighter Squadron Three Four stand ready to heed our Nation's call.
