New chiefs honored during
ceremony
Chief
Hospital Corpsman (SW) Dawn Calhoun salutes as she is piped aboard Sept.
16 during the chief’s pinning ceremony held aboard the USS Yorktown in
Charleston, S.C.
Calhoun was among 15 area First Class Petty Officers promoted to
the rank of E-7. During the ceremony, the chiefs’ anchors were pinned by
friends and family members, and after officially becoming chiefs, they
recited the Chief’s Creed.
On July 26, E-7 results were announced and the Lowcountry chief selectees were among 3,891 first class petty officers to earn their anchors. Charleston area new chiefs were from Naval Weapons Station Charleston, Naval Hospital Charleston, the Naval Consolidated Brig, The Citadel and Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit Six. |

Hospital
participates in ‘Day of Caring’
Naval
Hospital Charleston volunteers supported this year’s
“Trident United Way Day of Caring” for the third consecutive
year.
On Sept. 14, 22 staff members from Naval Hospital Charleston staff
rolled up their sleeves and joined 4,000 other volunteers in the
Charleston area to give back to the community.
