Air Force Personnel Statistics

About this site:
This website is a service provided by the Air Force Personnel Center's Directorate of Operations.  The purpose of this website is to provide accurate personnel statistics for the United States Air Force.  Some portions of this website are restricted to military and civilian employees of the United States Air Force, Air National Guard or Air Force Reserve.

Notice:
Every effort is being made to maintain the accuracy of data on this site.  Information is the best available as of the posting date. It is largely accurate, but when continued personnel data system improvements make even more accurate data available, we will post updates. Currently, data for members in their first year of service should be used with some caution -- indeed, some of these members are missing entirely, impacting overall totals.  Thanks for your patience while we work hard to provide the best service possible!

AF Personnel Statistics Web: New Look, Functionality
Our website has recently been redesigned to comply with the standard look of the Air Force Personnel Center's main website.  Some of the improvements we have made include:

  1. Reorganization of static file listings.  We have incorporated each of the files into a single searchable list: "Report Search"
  2. Each of the static files is now available in three formats: PDF File, Excel Spreadsheet, or webpage
  3. Links have been organized and incorporated to make the Personnel Statistics website a "Total Force" application -- servicing the Regular Air Force, Air National Guard, and (soon) the Air Force Reserve!

Please take a moment to review the menu above.  Additionally, you can view the site map to get information about each of the links in the menu above.  Please address any questions/comments to us as directed on our Contact Us page.

AF Personnel Statistics Web: Update Schedule
Static reports are updated monthly, as soon as the data becomes available to us, which is usually between the 10th and 15th of the month.  The reports are snapshots as of the last day of the previous month.

Air National Guard News
(As of 1 July 2003)

Air Force Personnel Statistics contains ANG Static Reports
The newly revamped AF Personnel Statistics website not only displays static reports for the Regular AF, but also for the Air National Guard, and soon the Air Force Reserve.  The Report Search function allows you to quickly find the report you need, and output it as a postscript file, webpage, or Excel Spreadsheet.  Currently, the only static ANG reports available pertain to Gains and Losses.  Keep an eye out for more reports to come online in the near future

IDEAS (Interactive Demographic Analysis System) Public and Restricted versions now available
Since 1998, IDEAS has been available to the public.  More recently, upon the guidance of the Office of Personnel Management and SECAF/JA, IDEAS no longer publicly offers information about religious preference, race, ethnicity, Hispanic Latino designation, handicap and age.  To provide those customers within the Air Force community the ability to continue to use these demographics for their reports, a restricted version of IDEAS was created.  Eligible users can access the restricted version via the Retrieval Applications Website.  It is available to all Air National Guard Bureau staff, State Headquarters, Military Personnel Flight (MPF), and Commander’s Support Staff (CSS) personnel who require access to this systems to view ANG data.  The restricted version of IDEAS allows the user to build reports from personnel data and demographics statistics without having to logon to the Military Personnel Data System (MILPDS).

IDEAS Enhancements: Easy to Use!
Check out the list of enhancements recently made to IDEAS:

  1. Report Builder: You are guided via a "wizard" (3 steps) to generate your reports.

  2. Data is available about Active Duty Officer and Enlisted, Air National Guard Officer and Enlisted, and DOD Air Force Civilians.

  3. Instructions are available throughout to provide guidance if you get stuck.

  4. You can now select up to 4 demographic criteria from the numerous data elements available

  5. You can filter your report / query output by AFSC and other demographic filters

  6. Select filters offer multi-select capability; i.e.  “AGR PERM, AGR TEMP” providing the overall AGR strength

  7. Select filters offer various comparison operators (<,>, and =), providing more robust filtering capability

  8. Reports can be viewed in HTML or Excel format

  9. More demographics are available, specifically targeting usefulness of IDEAS to commanders and managers

  10. A contact button in case you need to send our office an e-mail with suggestions, remarks, or recommendations

  11. Provides error handling capability, as with all AFPC systems, which identifies records with erroneous data

ANG Auth vs. Assigned application
The new "ANG AUTH/ASGN" application provides Authorized vs. Assigned manning reports and Unit Manning Documents and is available via the Retrieval Applications Website.  Some features of the "ANG AUTH/ASGN" application are:

  1. Report Builder: You are guided via a "wizard" (3 steps) to generate Authorized vs. Assigned reports.

  2. Data is available about ANG Officer and Enlisted, Traditional Guard and Stat Tour

  3. Instructions are available throughout to provide guidance if you get stuck.

  4. You can select up to 3 demographic criteria from the numerous data elements available

  5. (New) Added highlight/color coding capability which identifies errors and overages
-- All position number errors will be highlighted in yellow with a red frame
-- All overages/dual slotted position numbers will be highlighted in yellow with a black frame

  6. (New) Added a highlight/color coding capability to identify overgrades
-- All overgrades will be highlighted in yellow with a black frame

Accessing The Retrieval Application Website (RAW)
RAW is governed by DoD security protocols.  Only military members or title 5 Civil Service Employees in the Air Force, Air National Guard, or Air Force Reserve are eligible to use the system.  RAW can only be accessed from .mil/.gov domains.
RAW - Retrieval Applications Website is available via the “Interactive Reports” menu above.  If you do not already have a RAW account, you will need to click the “AF Military Registration" link, or "AF Civilian Registration" link to register.  New registrants will need to provide verification information based on their personnel record to create an account.  Once the information you entered on the form has been verified, you will be asked to provide a password, phone number, and email address to complete the registration process.  Once you have completed the registration process, you will have a RAW account with access to a few limited applications.  To request access to additional systems, such as TEAMS or ANG Auth/Asgn, contact:  ANG/DPYY, DSN 327-5912.

Future Enhancements and New Applications in the works!
Keep a lookout here for news about upcoming enhancements to existing applications or new applications being developed.  Currently, we are working the following items:

  1. All existing applications: Definitions for all the major demographics and their values

  2. All existing applications: Include data from past Fiscal Years

  3. In the works: Gain/Loss interactive application

  4. In the works: Recruiting Leads interactive application.  Goal: Identify potential ANG recruits from the active duty Air Force, Inactive Ready Reserve “IRR” and from the Defense Management Data Center (DMDC)
