Questions/Answers A: Visit the Assignment Management System Demos at: http://www.afpc.randolph.af.mil/afas/AMS%20Demo/
A: You can retrieve a new
password by returning to the login screen
What if the automatic password recovery didn't work? A: Please send
Full name: SSAN: rank: date of birth: current duty station: current unit: DSN: TAFMSD: your current email address: The help desk will be glad to set the member up with the means to recover their password. All of the information is required, and we will not be able to process your request if you are missing anything. If you do not have or know any of the information, please contact your MPF or CSS before you email our help desk-we will not send you any of the information.
A: If you need higher than "Member" access in AMS to accomplish your duties, you can apply through AMS by clicking on the "Account Info/Request Higher Access" button from the Main Menu while logged in. This will bring up the User Maintenance Screen where you can Change Your Password, Update or Verify your Contact Data, and Request Higher Access. Once you click the "Request Higher Access" button, you'll need to provide the PASCODE you need access to, and the Level of access you require, such as CSS, MPF, MAJCOM, Requisition Manager, or Commander. Why can't I volunteer for a particular Equal Plus Job? A: This could be one of a few reasons. Either 1) The job isn't specified within our system as being for your rank or projected rank or 2) It is not within your AFSC. Even though the ad says that your rank may apply, if it isn't coming down in your drop down menu, than the POC for the ad hasn't specified that a rank lower or higher may apply. You will need to contact the ad POC or volunteer at your local MPF/CSS.
Why is my duty title/base/MAJCOM/rank/etc incorrect? A: We are displaying the data we are receiving from MilPDS. Contact your local MPF or CSS to ensure that the most current and accurate information is in MilPDS
When will the
Assignment Preferences/BOP be back online for update? A: Right now, we do not have a time-line for when Assignment Preference or BOP will be back online. If you wish to update your dream sheet (form 392) you can do so at your local MPF or CSS
How do I remove myself from an Equal Plus job that I no longer wish to be applied for? A: On the Equal Plus Information Page, select the "None" option in the "Jobs Available" drop down menu and then select "Update Preferences"
A: We refresh our data once a week. If it has recently changed in MilPDS, please be patient-it will be updated in our system.
Where do I find my TAFMSD (Total Active Federal Military Service Date)? A: For military: you will need to verify your TAFMSD with your local CSS or MPF. It should be the day you entered Active Duty. For civilians: Your TAFMSD is the effective date of your current position or current grade (whichever is greater). Due to security reasons, we cannot release this information, and you will not be able to access our system without the correct date.
How often is the information with AMS updated? A: The information within our system is updated once a week.
Why can't I access certain URL's within the AFAS site? A: Here's the hyperlink that will determine what your current Domain resolves to: https://web2.ssg.gunter.af.mil/home/dnstest.aspThe AFAS web server uses the Domain Name System (DNS) to verify the domain of the system from which the user is browsing. This verification is accomplished with a DNS lookup of the Internet Protocol (IP) address of the user's computer system to determine the user's domain (the IP address is presented to the web server by the user's browser). Sometimes, the IP address presented by the browser to the web server is within a domain that is allowed access, but the address is not listed in DNS. Unable to complete a verification via DNS, the web server is unable to verify the user's system hostname or domain to be able to allow access. To access restricted areas of the AFAS server, your system's IP address must be listed in DNS so that: - a reverse domain lookup on your IP address will identify your system's hostname as a valid .mil, .gov, etc... domain - a DNS lookup of your hostname must map back to your IP address. DNS configurations are maintained locally, so check with you local network administrator to determine if your system's IP address is properly listed in DNS. The AFAS Webmaster is unable to make DNS updates.
Who do I contact to have incorrect data changed to reflect correct information? A: Your local MPF or CSS is the Point of Contact for incorrect information. If it is current in MilPDS, it will be updated in our system once we do our weekly data build.
My T-ODP will not forward/Who do I forward my T-ODP to? A: The T-ODP not forwarding could be due to the member being selected as their own reviewer. Ensure the actual T-ODP reviewer's name appears in the reviewer box. As for who should receive it, it's a matter of local policy, but generally speaking... It would be their rater, or rater's rater. Again there are many exceptions, for instance AFIT and PME students and such have their reviewers hard-coded into the system, but it boils down to local policy in most cases.
A: Either 1) The job isn't specified within our system as being for your rank or projected rank or 2) It is not within your AFSC. Even though the ad says that your rank may apply, if it isn't coming down in your drop down menu, than the POC for the ad hasn't specified that a rank lower or higher may apply. You will need to contact the ad POC or volunteer at your local MPF/CSS.
A: You will need to contact the POC for the ad. Although they indicated that a different rank may apply, they haven't denoted it within our system. You can still volunteer at your MPF or CSS, but unless the POC for the ad changes it, you will not be able to volunteer.
A: It can take several months before the personnel system catches up with new accessions. If you need personnel data right away, contact your Commander's Support Staff or MPF for assistance.
Where can I view a list of contingency TDY's? A: The world wide contingency TDYs will be filled by UTCs (unit type codes) that fall into specified AEF (Aerospace Expeditionary Force). The volunteer contingency TDYs were for individual augmentation vs a UTC tasking which gives a CINC a "capability" versus an "individual" to get a job accomplished. AEF is in it's infancy, so we do not know how volunteers will be able play in our AEF game. Be assured.....the volunteer system/concept will not be totally abandoned by our leadership. We worked with and have the support of our Air Staff counterparts to remove the contingency bulletin board from the web.
I am a non-Air Force member and I require AMS. How do I obtain such access? A: The following information is required in order for non-Air Force Active Duty members to gain access to AMS and receive T-ODP reviewer access: 1. Rank: 2. Full Name: 3. SSAN: 4. DoB (DD MM YYYY ): (Example: 01 Jan 1945) 5. PASCODE (Example: MA1LXXXX): 6. Unit: 7. Total Active Federal Military Service Date(DD MM YYYY): 8. Last Hire Date for Civilians (Example: 01 Jan 1978) 9. DSN: 10. EMAIL: 11. Air Force Point of Contact: 12. Type of access needed 13. Justification for access Please send this email to our help desk at amshelp@randolph.af.mil
Once we do our weekly data build, it should be reflected. The data could take up to 2 weeks to to be updated within AMS.
I am currently deployed and need to update my AF Form 392. Can you help? A: The member is the only one authorized to update their AF Form 392 (Dream Sheet). Due to security issues, no one other than the member is authorized to update AF Form 392. You will need to contact your local PERSCO unit, MPF, or CSS for assistance.
