Information for Visiting Media

Djibouti
Requests for visas should be coordinated through the Public Affairs Officer at the US Embassy, Djibouti. The embassy phone number is 253-35-39-95.

Journalists entering the country must fax an introduction letter to the Minister of Communications, Rifki Bamakrama, at 253-35-39-57.

Special Note for Television:
Radio-Television Djibouti has capability to feed video to other locations. For more information, contact Idriss at 253-82-13-55.


Ethiopia
A letter from the organization/company must be sent to the Press Licensing and Permit Office of the Ministry of Information at the following address:

The letter should contain the following information:

1. The purpose and duration of the visit.
2. The journalist's name, nationality, passport number, date and place of passport issue.
3. Any equipment carried by the journalist including serial number.
4. A statement affirming the journalist is employed by the organization.
5. The exact locations to be visited should be specified if travel outside the capital city Addis Ababa is required.

Upon arrival in Addis Ababa, the journalist should report to the Press Licensing Office of the Ministry of Information with one passport size photo to receive a permit.

Special Note for Television:
The crew coordinator in Addis Ababa must ensure that the list of equipment and the permit from the Ministry of Information are sent to the Customs Office at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport. Otherwise, the equipment will not clear customs.
