HOW DO I FIND ... ON THE MSC WEBSITE?

Directorate, Program, and Area Command Home Pages

Links to these pages can be found on the MSC Home page. The pages are also accessible through the MSC Organization page.

     Contracts

MSC RFPs and other procurement-related information are available on the Contracting Directorate (N10) home page. MSC is not posting all of its solicitations on its internet site at this time. The long term objective of the command is to post all of its solicitations. At present, information provided on this internet site is simply an additional means to distribute a limited portion of the command's procurement-related information. You may also choose to visit the Navy Electronic Commerce On-line (NECO) website at www.neco.navy.mil. NECO is a central location where all Navy activities post their solicitations.

Navy contracts begin with the letter "N" and are followed by 5 digits that represent the Unit Identification Code (UIC) (i.e., activity name).

     Employment Applications

Employment applications for afloat positions can be found at http://www.sealiftcommand.com/. The eight Human Resource Service Centers (HRSC) around the world handle vacancies for many different kinds of ashore positions at multiple locations.

To request an application, ask questions about MSC afloat employment, or for questions regarding a previously submitted application send an e-mail to Info@sealiftcommand.com.

     Ship Information and Photos

Ship information is available in the Ship Inventory and can be accessed by program, name, hull number, ship type and area command. An advanced search allows you to select multiple options from the above list. Individual ship pages have various information about the ship such as length, beam and draft. Most also have photos of the ship. At this time, e-mail addresses and FPO addresses for the ships are not available online.

     Ship Histories:

The Dictionary of American Naval Fighting Ships, located in the reference section of most local libraries, is an excellent resource. You may also wish to visit the Naval Historical Center's site at http://www.history.navy.mil.

Glossary of Ship Terms and Definitions

The Glossary page provides definitions for many commonly used terms and acronyms.

Military Personnel Records of Former Members:

To access your military personnel and medical records, download SF 180 from http://www.nara.gov/regional/mpr.html and send it to the Director, National Personnel Records Center, Military Personnel Records, 9700 Page Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63132-5100.

To access another's military personnel and medical records: If the person is deceased, provide proof such as death certificate or obituary; if the person is alive, provide signed release authorization to obtain maximum amount of information; if no authorization, only limited information can be made available.

Names and Duty Station Addresses including E-Mail Addresses:
